It is an augmentation system that augments and/or integrates the information obtained from other GNSS elements with information available on board the aircraft.

Example: RAIM – Receiver Autonomous Integrity Monitoring

GBAS is primarily used for precision approach operations. It is ground based system to augment the information obtained from other GNSS elements.

Ground infrastructure of GBAS includes two or more GNSS receivers to compute and broadcasts differential corrections and integrity.

It is wide coverage augmentation system in which user receives augmentation information from satellite-based transmitter.

Example: GAGAN

Primarily all three augmentation systems are used to achieve better accuracy and integrity. They also play a vital role in airspace concept and subset Performance Based Navigation.
